Serenity Light Recovery Review
Serenity Light Recovery is a rehab approximately 40 miles south of Houston in Angleton, Texas. It provides diverse forms of treatment adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. All programs are individualized and flexible. In addition to its detox, outpatient and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), the organization also offers residential treatment for men and women.
Accommodations and Food
The facility itself is a 52-bed Southern manor-style home on a 10-acre plot of land in the countryside. Of those beds, eight are in private suites; there are also 10 additional beds reserved for detox clients. Those who stay in shared rooms typically live with three other roommates. Bedrooms have twin or full bunked beds with basic decor, dressers and shared closet space. Private suites, on the other hand, come with larger beds, more space, private bathrooms, private patios and secure entry.
The entryway to the manor has a large sweeping staircase and there are also shared living spaces, outdoor areas with a pond, a game room with foosball, an art room, a yoga room and a fully-equipped kitchen. Throughout the program, clients are served three meals a day by on-site chefs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a care regimen, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help the clinical team develop their care plans. As mentioned, those in need of detox can do so on site with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), which can include Suboxone, Librium and Lorazepam. Once stabilized, residents attend full daily schedules of individual and group therapy utilizing evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and EMDR. Treatment programs are also supplemented by cutting-edge scientific treatments including brain mapping, biosound and biofeedback. Dual diagnosis support including medication management is also available, as is 12-step, SMART Recovery and Celebrate Recovery support. Groups cover a wide range of topics including psychoeducation, relapse prevention, nutrition and addiction education.
The staff at Serenity Light Recovery consists of MDs, LCSWs, LCDCs, RNs, recovery coach, LVNs and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
A wide range of holistic care services are also available including yoga, massage therapy and mindfulness training. The facility is also dog-friendly.
Other special elements include a signature Trigger Awareness program, a component of the organization’s relapse prevention education. All residential treatment tracks also include a three-day family program built in. Special faith-based treatment and veteran’s-specific care can be facilitated.
Finally, clients can also work with staff members to step down the intensity of care as an aftercare option—an additional year of sober coaching is also available in addition to placement in local sober living facilities.
