The Basics
Based out of Newport Beach, California, Serenity Coast Recovery is a small behavioral health facility that provides a range of flexible treatment programs to adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The organization is CARF-accredited and offers individualized treatment in different intensities. In addition to residential treatment, the facility also offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and standard outpatient care as well.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their care plans. Though detox is not offered on-site, those in need can get referrals to nearby programs as necessary. In general, PHP clients meet for a minimum of 20 hours a week for four hours a day whereas IOP meets three times a week, for three to four hours per session. The most flexible of all the options is standard outpatient, which can fit any schedule and is often used as a step down option. Participants in the latter two programs often attend school or class in addition to treatment.
In all of the above, programs include individual, group and family therapy with evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT, though specific modalities may vary by clinician. Though 12-step support is provided, AA/NA participation is not required and 12-step alternatives are also offered. Groups cover a range of topics including relapse prevention, anger management, addiction education, life skills and vocational help. Dual diagnosis support including medication management services are also available.
The staff at Serenity Coast Recovery consists of LPCs, LCSWs, CADCs, RNs, consulting psychiatrists and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Treatment plans can also be supplemented with a range of holistic therapy sessions which may include yoga, meditation, acupuncture, massage therapy and equine therapy. As mentioned, clients seeking more intensive care can also attend a residential program; similarly, standard outpatient programs can be attended as an aftercare option for those who complete primary care.
