Seneca County Addictions ProgramThe Basics

Seneca County Addictions Program offers outpatient treatment for adults and adolescents dealing with alcohol and other substance abuse issues, at a sliding scale fee. Located in central New York, between Syracuse and Buffalo, it serves residents of Seneca County and  the surrounding areas. This small facility offers a surprisingly comprehensive selection of addiction programs including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), dual diagnosis support and a specialized adolescent group. They pride themselves on using a client-centered, evidence-based approach to treatment and fostering individual dignity and respect in clients. Services are offered without regard to inability to pay.

Treatment and Staff

Clients undergo an initial assessment and work with a counselor to create an individualized treatment plan. A medication-assisted treatment program is available for those who require methadone or Suboxone. Seneca County Addictions Program does not provide detox, but referrals to nearby detox facilities are available.

All clients are required to attend both individual and two-hour group sessions weekly. Treatment can range from six to 18 months, depending on the individual. The program employs CBT and DBT therapeutic modalities. Group therapy sessions have a maximum of 12 clients at a time but usually tend toward the smaller side. Additionally, clients may benefit from including their relatives in the family therapy group, which meets once a month. There is also a designated group for adolescents. Dual diagnosis support is offered in conjunction with the Seneca County Mental Health Clinic. Referrals to local 12-step meetings are also provided and weekly attendance is a requirement.

The staff includes a psychiatric social worker, a physician who serves as the medical director, and several certified addictions counselors, including one who specializes in adolescents.

Extras

Seneca County Addictions Program provides impaired driver services for rehabilitation and education of those with DUIs. They also offer vocational and educational counseling programs for the unemployed and those who have missed out on a traditional education due to substance abuse.

In Summary

The Seneca County Addictions Program provides a variety of therapy-based services. For those who live in Seneca County and the surrounding areas, it can be a great recovery resource. The inclusive nature of the program means that no eligible resident will be turned away and the sliding scale fee means that everyone can get the necessary help at a manageable cost.
