Seeds of Hope Sober LivingThe Basics

Founded in 1999 in Indianapolis, Indiana, Seeds of Hope provides affordable sober living living for women. Seeds of Hope’s mission is to help women maintain their recovery, while assistance is provided so that they can rebuild their lives.

Accommodations and Amenities

Set against a picturesque rural setting, Seeds of Hope is a two story quaint building, which resembles a red brick schoolhouse. A pristine lawn, a small patio and a landscaped garden full of flowers provide bursts of color. Additionally, there is an outdoor deck, which includes a patio table, barbeque grill and chairs. The interior includes a spacious living room with a TV and a spacious dining room area. Seeds of Hope accommodates 17 women who are housed in single or double occupancy rooms, which include twin beds with colorful comforters, a sink and a spacious armoire.

Food is included, in the cost. Clients participate in meal planning and cooking. Residential staff lives on the premises. The house is within close proximity to public transportation. Amenities include exercise and recreation rooms.

Rules and Regulations

Prior to admittance, clients must have undergone detox. A typical length of stay is six months. Requirements include attending 90 12-step meetings in 90 days, 32 weekly hours of employment, performing household chores and making sure the house is well-maintained and being at the house meetings Clients without a high school diploma are required to get their GED, and are provided with hands-on guidance. At Seeds of Hope, there is the belief that having the proper diploma and education will empower a woman and eventually help her get a well-paying, fulfilling job.

Random drug and alcohol testing is conducted, and those who have relapsed must leave the premises, to ensure the safety of the household.

Extras

Other services besides housing include goal setting, job skills coaching, money management, life skills, relapse prevention assistance, and career counseling.

As a non-profit organization, Seeds of Hope operates the Hope Chest Thrift Store. During the first week of their residency, clients work at the thrift store. This provides a sense of structure, and clients gain a sense of confidence, so that when they look for work, they feel positive about their job search efforts. All proceeds from the thrift store go to the program.

In Summary

Seeds of Hope allows financially challenged newly clean and sober women an opportunity to build a solid 12-step protocol, and a chance to truly empower themselves in recovery. This family-style sober house home provides clients with a plethora of services at a highly affordable cost. Staff provides one on one attention to clients, which is an added bonus.
