Seattle washingtonThe Basics

Seattle Children’s Hospital originally opened its doors in 1908 and has been operating under its current name out of Seattle, Washington, since 2008. With a diverse range of programs including medical care, community resources, safety and wellness services, Seattle Children’s Hospital also provides access to psychiatric and behavioral health services in a non-12-step based outpatient substance abuse program for adolescents.

Treatment and Staff

SCH’s outpatient program treats teenagers and young adults up to the age of 20 who have been referred for treatment by their primary care physician. Specializing in treating co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders, or ongoing medical problems, Seattle Children’s Hospital treatment follows evidence-based methodology which includes an assessment followed by therapeutic treatment schedules unique to each client, with a minimum of one session per week.

Treatment is scheduled Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays with morning slots reserved for initial intake appointments and afternoon sessions for returning clients.

SCH’s substance abuse treatment team is made up of medical doctors, registered nurses, MSWs and Chemical Dependency Professionals (CDPs). Additionally, clients may access the broader hospital staff for general healthcare providers with special training in substance abuse.

Extras
