With branches in Augusta and Decatur, Georgia, Seajoy Family Service Center LLC provides quality substance abuse and mental heath services. This outpatient facility offers assessments and psychiatric care as well as group, individual and family therapy. Through healthy coping skills and evidence-based therapies, clients learn how to embrace sobriety.
Treatment and Staff
Seajoy Family Service Center uses an individualized approach to each client’s care program. Before beginning treatment, each participant must undergo an initial evaluation. Detox and residential treatment are not available.
Individual therapy can be done in conjunction with groups or as its own form of treatment. These sessions are each an hour long and vary in frequency on a client-by-client basis. Plans typically start out with one session per week and gradually decrease in frequency over time. The 12 steps are incorporated into treatment as necessary though they are not required. Support for mental health issues can also be addressed with an on-staff psychiatrist.
Aside from the above, clients can also attend group therapy. Topics may include relapse prevention, life skills, coping mechanisms and processing. Educational discussions are also included, focusing on the dangers of prolonged substance abuse. Through the use of CBT and DBT, clients can challenge their negative thoughts. Rather than focusing on the 12 steps, clients use talk therapy to work through their issues.
Family therapy allows each client’s loved ones to participate in the recovery process. These sessions are usually conducted on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Discussion topics may include processing, codependency, communication skills and healthy boundaries.
For those in need of medication for mental health issues, a psychiatrist and registered nurses are available. Following an assessment, medication management is available as well. The staff at Seajoy Family Service Center consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors and social workers. Groups sizes vary from eight to 12 clients at a time.
Extras
Aside from the more structured therapy programs, additional services include interventions, nursing assessments and care within the community and school systems.
