Sea Mar CHC: Renacer Youth Treatment Center Review
Located in Seattle, Washington is the Renacer Youth Treatment Center, operating through Sea Mar Community Health Center. Renacer opened its doors in 2003 as an adolescent substance abuse inpatient program for teenage boys ages 13 to 17. Treatment and Staff
The treatment tracks are individualized and based on a 90 to 120 day schedule, though some clients may spend less time in their programs. There are a variety of treatment options offered that include therapy, self care and awareness, psychoeducation and reintegrating the clients back into their communities.
There are daily group sessions and weekly individual ones. The groups are often education based, and often incorporate 12-step philosophy as well. Life skill training and coping skills are implemented in addition to HIV/AIDS education, goal setting, relapse prevention and balance within the family unit. Every client also has access to psychiatric assessments and observation, and dual diagnosis treatment and medication management are also available.
Therapeutic methods are combination of evidence-based and holistic, like CBT, DBT, art and music therapy and Motivational Interviewing (MI). There is a multidisciplinary staff of medical and therapeutic clinicians at Renacer with credentials such as LCDC, MSW and LCSW, along with nutritionists, psychiatric nurses and physicians.
Extras
Recreation is added into each day’s schedule and includes softball and soccer. Residents are granted ample time to take on new hobbies and personal activities that aid in developing improved communication skills and making healthy life choices down the line. There are also community events and festivals the clients participate in and enjoy on a regular basis.
