Scottsdale Providence Review
Arizona’s Scottsdale Providence Recovery Center (SPRC) is a 12-step, holistic treatment facility that offers comprehensive programming for adults with addiction and co-occurring disorders. SPRC provides luxury housing for clients as they participate in the program, which consists of a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) while building a solid community of sober people under one roof.
Accommodations and Food
The facility is a large, art deco style home that is very spacious, comfortable and inviting with modern furnishings and new appliances. The home can accommodate eight clients, with the men and women on separate floors of the facility. The bedrooms are all shared, with the exception of one private room, between two and three clients in each, some of which have en suite bathrooms.
The kitchen has a rustic feel to it, as does the dining room. There is a common living room with a TV setup with cable and Wifi, and a fireplace. There is an additional sitting room that also has a TV and couches. A covered patio on the second floor of the house overlooks the backyard that offers a sparkling pool complete with water feature. The food is provided for clients who take turns preparing meals for each other in the evenings.
Treatment and Staff
The 90 day treatment offered at Scottsdale Providence includes daily transportation to the clinic where clients have group therapy, individual therapy and expressive treatment throughout the day. During treatment the men and women undergo gender-specific programming, so they rarely interact during the day. The PHP lasts up to eight hours per day, while there are two IOP options offered in the daytime and evening hours. The IOP is a step-down for clients who have completed their PHP, and gives them a chance to get jobs or attend school while still receiving structured treatment. Though the IOP requires less treatment hours, clients still partake in daily programming at the facility.
Treatment uses evidence-based approaches folded in with AA and NA meetings and some holistic methods. CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Neurofeedback therapy are all implemented. For clients with co-occurring disorders, there is a medication management and frequent visits with the staff psychiatrists. Detox is not available.
Clients work on relapse prevention, anger management, stress reduction, and learn coping and life skills. Throughout treatment clients meet with their primary therapist to discuss progress and put together an aftercare plan prior to discharge.
The staff of Scottsdale Providence includes BSNs, LMSWs, LPCs, psychiatric nurses, and case managers.
Extras
Some of the addiction holistic treatment includes yoga, massage, acupuncture, equine therapy, self-realization therapy and altruistic therapy. There are also opportunities for exercise several times throughout the week at a local gym.
Family participation is considered an essential element of client success at this facility, and family visitation is always encouraged as well as counseling.
