Scottsdale Addiction Treatment and Counseling (SATC) is a unique outpatient treatment facility serving residents of the greater Scottsdale, Arizona area suffering from alcoholism and drug addiction. Unlike most Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), SATC combines both medical detox and medical stabilization to those afflicted by acute withdrawal from alcohol and drugs before treating the accompanying behavioral and psychological problems associated with their addiction.
Treatment and Staff
SATC is an intensive 16-week outpatient program for individuals aged 14 and above who suffer from alcohol and drug addictions. Three days a week for 16 weeks, clients attend two- to three-hour sessions and participate in a wide range of evidence-based treatments including individual and group therapy, 12-step programs and MET.
Assessments, which are highly individualized, are used to determine the motivation, needs and circumstances of each client as well as the possible triggers that might lead to a relapse. Clients are taught the neurobiology behind addiction and situation-specific coping programs to help avoid relapses. Families are heavily involved for the duration of the client’s treatment. Random, unannounced drug tests are given to clients during their 16-week treatment. While 12-step meetings are not held at SATC, clients are strongly encouraged to attend at least one a week.
For those in need of detox, SATC offers three- to seven-day programs before enrolling in the outpatient track, assuming the client has only mild withdrawal symptoms and is at low-risk for medical complications (including seizures and DTs). This provides an affordable alternative to inpatient detox programs or pricey hospitalization. Only the latest and approved medical interventions are used, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) anti-craving medications administered to alcoholics. Suboxone is used to treat most drug addicts.
In addition to group therapy, clients receive social group support to help learn re-socialization skills. Legal collaboration is available for clients who need help navigating any drug or alcohol related offenses. SATC also collaborates with clients’ primary care physicians regularly to make sure all bases are being covered. Additionally, specific coping skills are taught to help combat any highly vulnerable periods where relapses might be more likely.
Run by a highly-skilled and credentialed psychiatrist, SATC provides a structured IOP that aims to not only help clients recover from addictions physically, but also help them to develop motivational and relapse prevention techniques through various therapies.
