Saving GraceThe Basics

Founded in 2011, Saving Grace Homes offers two male-only sober living homes in Moreno Valley and Highland, California. Both locations are located near 12-step meetings and local churches, as Saving Grace Homes implements both a faith-based approach and the 12-step methodology.

Accommodations and Amenities

Each single-family house has a 15-bed capacity and is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood. Both houses include spacious backyards, immaculate yet cozy dining rooms and living rooms. Men share triple-occupancy rooms that are furnished with twin beds, closets, a nightstand and a lamp. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, Cable TV, laundry facilities, detergent, and free local and long distance phone calls. The houses are in close proximity to shopping malls and public transportation. Both residences feature an on-site manager.

Residents are responsible for purchasing their own groceries and preparing their own meals in fully equipped kitchens that include a dishwasher and microwave oven.

Rules and Regulations

At Saving Grace Homes, clients must have been clean and sober for a minimum of seven days, but those who have been to an inpatient drug rehab are preferred. The Moreno Valley residents have an 11 pm curfew Sundays through Thursdays and an 11:30 pm curfew on Fridays and Saturdays. The Highland residents have a 10 pm curfew Sundays through Thursdays and a 10:30 pm curfew on Fridays and Saturdays. Clients are required to perform daily household chores and yard work.

While the sober living facilities feature a Christian environment and utilizes the support of The Lord’s Mountain Movers, a Christian Outreach Ministry, participation in the fellowship is optional. Clients of all faiths are welcome at the house. Attending local church services is encouraged, but not mandated. Since Saving Grace implements a 12-step curriculum, clients must attend a minimum of three CA/NA/AA meetings per week, acquire a sponsor, maintain the sponsor-sponsee relationship and work the steps. Attendance at house meetings is also mandatory.

Saving Grace Homes has a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and drug usage. Those testing positive are evicted immediately, since the facility believes that residents who are under the influence are an immediate threat to other residents in recovery.

Extras

Saving Grace Homes assists men with filling out government benefit applications, writing resumes and provides community service, as well as local employment opportunities. Those who have a tight budget when it comes to purchasing groceries are provided leads to local food banks and reduced rate food items.

In Summary

Saving Grace is a member of the Riverside and San Bernardino Counties Sober Living Coalition, the facility is highly monitored for performance, adherence to rules, and sanitation. For men seeking highly affordable sober living, Saving Grace Homes is a worthwhile option. However, those not too crazy about the Christian atmosphere, this might not be the right fit.
