The Basics
Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic is a not-for-profit organization that offers specialized health and wellness services to an ethnically diverse community and low-income individuals. Located on the reservation of the Santa Ynez Band of Mission Indians in the Central Santa Barbara County of Southern California, Santa Ynez offers an outpatient substance abuse treatment program out of their behavioral health department.
Treatment and Staff
The substance abuse treatment program at Santa Ynez is exclusively outpatient, but offers referral services to place individuals in residential facilities as-needed. Before beginning treatment, clients are initially assessed to determine an appropriate level of care, whether additional counseling services are needed and to develop an individualized treatment plan that caters to the specific recovery needs of that individual.
Treatment typically consist of individual and group therapy, family therapy and additional services for verified Native Americans. Group sessions are held every evening Monday through Friday and individual therapy is scheduled based on the recommendation of the counselor.
The duration of treatment is entirely determined by the progress of the individual and they are invited to return for additional treatment at any time. The 12 steps are not integrated into the program, however clients are strongly encouraged to attend meetings and may be referred by one of the counselors to a local chapter.
The staff at Santa Ynez consists of a psychologist, a psychiatrist, an MFT and a CADC.

In addition to a comprehensive substance abuse treatment program, Santa Ynez also offers a wide range of other health and wellness services to clients and the community. Mental health treatment, prevention, dental services, Native American Cultural support, primary care, children’s services, geriatric services, family planning and nutrition education are all available.
