Accommodations and Food
Residents in need of detox complete that process at a nearby facility before entering treatment. Residents have roommates and share bathrooms with another room, in a suite configuration. Rooms have TVs and residents are permitted cell phones and personal computers while in treatment. The Center has numerous internet hotspots.
Residents take their meals in the Center’s cafeteria which serves typical American-fare. Laundry facilities are provided at no charge and residents can walk the grounds for exercise. Some may also be permitted to check out bicycles from the Center’s bike loan program.
Treatment and Staff
Residents have customized treatment plans that include daily group therapy and on-site 12-step meetings. They also have individual therapy at least once a week. Therapy uses both CBT and DBT. Gender-specific processing groups are also available for women.
There is a nine-week PTSD program that clients may enroll in once their substance abuse recovery stabilizes.
The treatment team helps each client create an aftercare plan that may include locating an outpatient program or individual therapist near their home. They also have nutrition, chiropractic and acupuncture services.
The Sam Rayburn Memorial Veterans Center’s Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program provides US veterans with comprehensive dual diagnosis residential treatment designed to give them the mental health, medical and peer support to heal from trauma and reintegrate into sober civilian life.
