The Basics

Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop individualized treatment plans. IOP generally lasts for eight to 16 weeks and consists primarily of group therapy rooted in CBT and DBT, though some individual sessions may be added at the staff’s discretion. Programs typically meet three days a week for three hours at a time, covering a range of topics including addiction as a disease, life skills, anger management and spirituality. While some support may be available for depression or anxiety, those with more severe co-occurring disorders may need to seek additional care.
In addition to therapy, clients also attend regular 12-step meetings and a concurrent relapse prevention program that meets one a week for 10 to 15 weeks. Groups are available during the day and in the evening to accommodate outside commitments. This facility does not offer detox.
The staff at The Salvation Army Harbor Light consists of LPCs, CADCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to the main program, clients with gambling addictions can also attend IOP with similar treatment with an increased focus on financial counseling. Family therapy is also available. For those who finish a primary care program, the facility provides a structured aftercare track that meets for an hour a week for up to 20 weeks.
