Salvation Army Harbor Light Indiana Inpatient Review
With a number of locations throughout the United States, Salvation Army’s Harbor Light provides a wide range of addiction recovery programs for men and women, including detox, residential and outpatient treatment and sober living. The Harbor Light Indiana Inpatient program in Indianapolis offers an inpatient track to those in need of intensive treatment for substance abuse and chemical dependency.
Accommodations and Food
The residential program has a total of 36 beds available for men and women. Clients stay in dorm-style rooms that are shared but separated by gender. Accommodations include twin beds, dressers and shared closet space. The facility also has on-site laundry, common areas, a computer lab and classrooms. Throughout their stay, all residents take advantage of three meals a day served cafeteria-style.
Treatment and Staff
Upon intake, all clients go through an initial assessment to help staff members develop an individualized treatment plan. The residential program is typically short term, lasting for 14 days with around-the-clock supervision. Treatment includes both individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Aside from therapy, the curriculum also includes regular 12-step participation and a range of educational sessions focusing on addiction as a disease, social skills, family dynamics, coping strategies, relapse prevention and HIV/AIDS.
While clients may be able to get basic support for depression and anxiety, those with more severe co-occurring disorders may need to seek outside help.
The staff at Salvation Army Harbor Light in Indianapolis consists of LPCs, CADCs, LCSWs, LMFTs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Aside from the above, the organization offers outpatient care in varying intensities, family counseling, aftercare and sober living for clients transitioning out of a more intensive program. Specialized care is also available for those with gambling addictions.
In Summary
In all, the Salvation Army Harbor Light Indiana Inpatient program provides a short-term, safe environment for clients to get sober. Treatment includes evidence-based care, 12-step support and educational sessions. For those who complete the program, the organization also provides further outpatient and sober living options. While a relatively interim option, Salvation Army Harbor Light’s inpatient track is worth considering for affordable but intensive treatment in the Indianapolis area.
