Located in Hartford, Connecticut, the Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center’s residential treatment program is a short-term, clinically intensive option for men and women in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. These services are offered at the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital campus through Saint Francis’s subsidiary organization, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Centers (ADRC).
Accommodations and Food
Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center ADRC Residential has a total of 38 gender-separate beds in an inpatient wing on the ninth floor of Mount Sinai hospital. It offers mostly clinical accommodations, with clients typically sharing a room with one of two other residents; however, some private rooms may be available. For those in need of detox, a 35-bed wing of the sixth floor is dedicated to inpatient stabilization. During their stay, clients are served three meals a day in the facility’s cafeteria.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients go through an initial intake and assessment so that staff members can develop an individualized treatment plan. All are welcome to stay for up to 30 days, during which clients attend individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices such as CBT and DBT. Some holistic options are also available, including acupuncture and art therapy. For clients with co-occurring disorders, additional group sessions and medication management are offered. While 12-step attendance is not required, residents can get referrals for nearby meetings upon request.
Additional services include the Alternative Living Center, a 24-bed facility for chronically homeless men. Standalone case management is also available, as are a range of outpatient and sober living services. Those looking to transition into another of the organization’s programs as a form of aftercare are welcome to do so with the help of staff.
Overall, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center ADRC Residential program provides a short-term, intensive option for clients in the early stages of recovery. Treatment includes evidence-based and holistic practices along with medical and psychiatric oversight. As an added bonus, alumni can also freely step down to another transitional program through the organization. While the cost of this program may vary depending on insurance, Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center ADRC Residential remains a valuable resource.
