The Basics
Founded in 2006, the Sage Neuroscience Center offers mental healthcare and outpatient substance abuse treatment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Services include outpatient detox and a 12-week Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) which requires clients to meet three times a week for three hours at a time.
Treatment and Staff
The Sage Neuroscience Center is open from 8 am to 6 pm Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 am to 5 pm on Fridays. Sage offers an outpatient alcohol and opiate detox program. Clients are aided through the detox process using Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with Suboxone or Vivitrol and monitored by a trained medical team during the day, leading to a safe detox process. They typically come in daily for a length of three to seven days, to complete the process. After detox, they are offered the option to begin the IOP.
IOP meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 am to 12 pm. In order to graduate the program, clients undergo 12 weeks of group process therapy, utilizing Motivational Interviewing (MI) and CBT. Clients also undergo regular urinalysis and breathalyzer tests. A mandatory family session takes place every third Wednesday of the month. Sage offers a therapeutic play environment during family group times for children of clients who are 13 years old or younger. Sage additionally employs the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and may offer dual-diagnosis support for the treatment of co-occurring disorders.
The Sage Neuroscience Center employs two medical doctors and a number of Master’s-level licensed therapists.
Extras
Sage offers NeuroStar Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy, which is the first non-invasive TMS device cleared by the FDA for the treatment of patients with major depression who have not benefited from prior antidepressant treatment. NeuroStar TMS Therapy uses a highly focused, pulsed magnetic field to stimulate function in targeted brain regions.
In Summary
Closing in on its tenth year of operation, the Sage Neuroscience Center is an interesting option for substance abuse treatment in New Mexico. In terms of cost, Sage does accept some types of insurance but even for those who may be paying for services out of pocket the entire 12-week intensive outpatient program only costs $10,800, making it a relatively affordable treatment option.
