The Basics
With five locations in Los Angeles and Long Beach, Safety Consultant Services, Inc. (SCS) specializes in the treatment of individuals convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances. Founded in 1975, Safety Consultant Services, Inc. boasts over 40 years of experience providing education for drivers to the perils of drinking and driving. Licensed by the State of California’s Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, SCS provides services for individuals convicted of an array of DUI charges, including those with “wet reckless” convictions as well as clients with first, second and multiples offenses of driving under the influence.
Treatment and Staff
SCS provides counseling services as well as educational classes and treatment programs. The treatment programming not only teaches clients about the legal consequences of drinking and driving, but also helps individuals make better choices and lead healthier lives by educating them about better decision making.
The facility offers several different programs depending on the specific needs of the client. A “wet-reckless” charge is a reduction from a typical California DUI, often referred to as a “watered down DUI,” and is unique in that individuals are not actually arrested. However, individuals convicted of a wet-reckless DUI are responsible for participating in a minimum of 12 hours of alcohol and substance use education. SCS provides this treatment. For individuals convicted of a first time DUI offense, SCS offers a four, six and nine-month treatment options. The treatment length varies depending on the client’s participation requirements deemed by the court. Having said that, each program provides substance use education as well as group and individual counseling. Twelve-step recovery principles and meetings are not a part of the programming.
For individuals convicted of multiple offenses, SCS offers an 18 and a 30 treatment program. As with first time offenders, the program length is determined by the courts. The 18-month option provides a baseline of 64 hours of individual and group therapy as well as education and life skills. The 30 month program offers a minimum of 90 hours.
The SCS team is comprised of counselors and educators.

While most clientele are coming through the California court system, SCS also offers programs for individuals with out of state DUI’s.
