SactoThe Basics

As its name suggests, the Sacramento County Probation Adult Court Treatment Center is an outpatient program for adult men and women on probation who have been court-ordered to attend treatment. This program originally began in 1995 offering counseling services and 12-step support to non-violent drug offenders, all closely monitored under state guidelines.

Treatment and Staff

The treatment program through the court offers many different kinds of care for clients and is divided into three phases. The first phase of the program requires all clients to attend treatment Monday through Friday for about four hours a day, the second phase requires three days a week for an hour and a half a day, and the last phase is two days a week for an hour each.

Clients receive group and individual counseling services, participate in relapse prevention and job skill classes, and attend a mandatory minimum of three AA/NA meetings a week. These meetings must occur at approved locations and all must be signed off on by a representative. The minimum required time in the program is 10 months, though most clients take at least a year to complete it. There are additional services available for clients with co-occurring conditions and women who are pregnant or post-partum. Treatment is overseen by state caseworkers, CSWs and CADCs through the court system.

Extras

The treatment includes designing an aftercare plan for each client, which can entail continuing treatment or home visits depending on the needs of the individual. The facility also offers a family program with counseling services and education about addiction.

In Summary

The Sacramento County Probation Adult Drug Court Treatment Center is not a traditional treatment program, in that clients are not there by choice. Still, the treatment offered at this facility is thorough and comprehensive. Since the program is longer-term with a requirement that clients finish it, the chance of relapse is likely diminished at least in the short term. Overall, this facility offers those in need a solid chance at sobriety while keeping them out of jail.
