Royal Life Centers Sober Living
CARF Accredited Royal Life Centers is a network of care facilities with several locations within the US. Just west of Olympia in Lacey, Washington, Royal Life Centers offers detox, residential, outpatient and sober living options. There are two sober living housing options. One for clients participating in the outpatient track, and the other for graduates of the program who still need support. The programs require clients to attend 12-step meetings on a regular basis, and be devoted to remaining sober while transitioning back into their communities.
Accommodations and Amenities
The two facilities are both home-like and comfortable. There are private and semi-private bedrooms in both locations. Clients sleep in twin beds and have a dresser and nightstand. Every bedroom has a flat screen TV that is connected to cable, and there is Wifi throughout the house. The living rooms also have flat screens. Residents have access to a washer/dryer on site.
Sober living clients, regardless of whether they are in the outpatient program or not, are provided with transportation to 12-step meetings, grocery stores and appointments.
Rules and Regulations
Clients in the outpatient program who are staying at the Royal Life Housing facilities are expected to remain in the house for the entirety of the program, which is nine weeks. The first three weeks of this program clients are not permitted to pay a weekly fee. The next two phases of this program, which is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and step-down outpatient treatment, the fees are $50 and $75 per treatment stage.
Outpatient clients are required to attend at least four AA or NA meetings per week. There are certain meetings within the community that are mandatory for clients to attend. After the nine week program has commenced, clients are offered the option to move into the grad housing. However, this is only an option for those who have successfully found a job and are working towards returning home.
There are two mandatory drug and alcohol screenings per week, and nightly curfews. Visitors are allowed on the property, and clients in the grad level of housing can request overnight passes. While in the grad level, clients are given a lot more freedom, but are still required to attend 12-step meetings, work on a consistent basis, keep the house clean and remain accountable for all their actions and decisions. Clients also need to provide their own food in the grad housing.
In Summary
The sober living housing program through Royal Life Recovery Centers is affordable, safe and comfortable. Clients live in safe areas of town, and work on their life skills in anticipation of returning back to their communities. It is a supportive, but not overbearing, level of care.
