Royal Life Centers at Chapter 5 is a residential program for adult men and women in Prescott, Arizona. This program is the next phase in treatment following the medical detox program, and is the step before the comprehensive outpatient treatment. Clients in the residential program can expect evidence-based programming options, 12-step support, therapeutic activities and a structured daily schedule of group and individual therapy. This facility is a part of the larger Royal Life Centers network of care centers that has locations throughout Arizona and Washington.
Accommodations and Food
The recently renovated housing at Chapter 5 offers comfort and spacious quarters in the separate men’s and women’s facilities. Between detox and the residential program there are approximately 50 beds, with the women’s house accommodating about 20 of the clients.
Within the two story men’s housing facility are several shared bedrooms, all of which come with a flat screen TV. There is also a dining room, fully stocked kitchen, living room with couches and an additional flat screen, and laundry room.
The women’s housing is a long, one story house, also with shared bedrooms that offer their own TVs. Much like the men’s facility, there is a kitchen and dining room, along with a common area and laundry facilities.
Though the residences’ bedrooms can accommodate more than one client per bedroom, there are instances where clients will have the rooms to themselves depending on availability.
There are several options for clients to entertain themselves during down times. Each house has a video game console, board games, books and DVDs available.
Clients enjoy their chef prepared meals three times a day together. Healthy eating and nutrition are a staple in this program, so the house chef works to create meals that are wholesome and tasty, and that replenish the lost nutrients that individuals struggling with substance abuse often lack due to poor nutrition. There is also a fully stocked snack bar open 24 hours a day.
Treatment and Staff
Royal Life Centers take a holistic approach to treatment by providing customized programming options. The days are structured to include group therapy and activities for about five hours per day, every day. The intimate group size affords more personal attention to each client. Group topics include relapse prevention, depression, anxiety, dealing with grief and loss and more.
Dual diagnosis support is available for those struggling with co-occurring disorders. Detox and residential usually last around 30 days but the ongoing outpatient and sober living options can take six months, depending on the client.
The staff consists of therapists who specialize in addiction. They are well versed in several different therapies and adjust their approach depending on the client’s needs. Commonly used therapy methods are CBT, DBT and other evidence-based modalities.
Extras
Added therapies include yoga, movement therapy, music and art therapy, kayaking, camping, ropes course, journaling, and equine therapy.
