After serving as a dietitian for eating disorder clients for over 10 years in a private practice, Renee Tilt founded RoundTable Wellness in Lafayette, Indiana, in response to the dire need for collaborative treatment. RoundTable Wellness offers a variety of services including mental health support, nutrition education and community outreach. Programming involves group and individual therapy, as well as holistic treatment, for adolescents and adults. RoundTable Wellness aims to close the gap between nutritional services and comprehensive mental health.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment through RoundTable Wellness uses a collaborative approach through evidence-based models. The facility itself offers a warm and calming atmosphere that includes a number of therapy offices and a kitchen. Eating disorder programs have several groups for all ages. This includes one for binge eating for adults, one for teen body image and another for clients who are going through a transition, such as those who are starting college.
The initial step to getting treatment involves a comprehensive assessment with a mental health professional in addition to a nutritionist. Group therapy options typically run in 10 week cycles and meet once a week in the evening or afternoon. The Eating Disorders Psychotherapy group is geared towards college age clients and offers a peer guidance element, in addition to being run by a therapist. The Teen Body Image group focuses on negative feelings one may have towards how they look and low self esteem. This aims to shift the clients’ perspective on society’s unachievable standards when it comes to beauty. The Binge Eating Disorder group offers alternative approaches to diet culture issues and provides a number of educational tools and coping methods.
These groups integrate an array of therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). As clients participate in their groups they are also required to maintain attendance to their individual sessions that meet once a week.
RoundTable Wellness also offers wellness and nutrition education tracks for individuals and their families. These address lifestyle changes, tips to modify food and meal choices, the importance of self care, and learning how to trust one’s body.
Staff members at RoundTable Wellness are highly trained clinicians who are LMHC, RD, CHWC, NCC, LCSW, medical doctors, psychologists and registered dietitians.
The client focused programming at RoundTable Wellness doesn’t just look at one side of the client’s concerns, but instead takes into account the whole person. Each person can expect helpful and healing goal setting and treatment plans. As previously mentioned, RoundTable Wellness definitely connects the space between having and an eating disorder and mental health concerns to provide a truly comprehensive experience.
