Rosecrance New Life Outpatient Center

The Basics

Since 1991, Rosecrance New Life Outpatient Center in Davenport, Iowa has provided substance abuse treatment and support for adults, adolescents and families. New Life is a part of Rosecrance Health Network, a private non-profit organization with more than 40 locations throughout the Midwest. Serving more than 22,000 families a year, Rosecrance New Life provides prevention education, early intervention, detox and a number of outpatient treatment options.

Treatment and Staff

For adolescents, treatment Level I is an extended outpatient track consisting of a maximum of six hours of group therapy a week plus individual and family therapy with varied time commitments which depend upon each client’s unique needs. Groups are scheduled Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 7 pm. This program is tailored for those with less severe substance abuse issues, however, it can also be used as a step down for adolescents transitioning out of the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

The adolescent IOP is an after-school program with a minimum of six hours of treatment a week, using many of the same modalities and group meeting times as Level I. IOP treatment plans are individualized and also include alternative treatments such as art and music therapy. Clients are required to attend off-site AA/NA meetings to supplement their recovery program.

The adult programs are based primarily on the PRIME for Life curriculum and incorporate evidence-based therapies such as Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Staff consists of CADCs, LMHCs, LISWs and LCPCs.

Extras

Both the adult and adolescent programs offer aftercare which generally meets once a week for an hour. This track focuses on relapse prevention and maintaining the healthy changes established in primary care. Though this phase typically lasts three to six months, clients can remain in the program as long as they need to. For those who have previously attended a program through Rosecrance, this phase is free of charge.

Attendance of the family program is required of parents and guardians of adolescents concurrently enrolled in any of the programs, Family education classes take place every other Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. New Life also offers a separate DUI/DWI treatment program for clients who have been court-ordered.

Because Rosecrance Health Network is such a large organization, some of its other facilities in Illinois and Wisconsin offer additional outpatient and inpatient programs, as well as detox in some cases. A full list is available on their site directory.

In Summary

Overall, Rosecrance New Life Outpatient Center offers comprehensive outpatient treatment benefiting from all the resources of its greater parent organization. Clients transitioning out of more intensive programs can step-down to any basic outpatient track, while those in need of an IOP can step up. Though dual diagnosis support is not as available, Rosecrance New Life Outpatient provides a number of valuable services and for clients in the area.
