Roman and Sokolowski Counseling was founded by therapists and friends Amanda Roman and Mary Ann Sokolowski in 2016 to offer outpatient mental health treatment to accommodate the recent growth of locals in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Programming is specialized to focus on a variety of behavioral health disorders through evidence-based modalities and holistic approaches. Roman and Sokoloski also offer intensive therapy programming, eating disorder coaching and group sessions in addition to the standard one-on-one counseling options for all ages.
Treatment and Staff
The Roman and Sokolowski Counseling staff aims to make it really easy for clients to come in for treatment and provides online scheduling options. At the initial appointment clients meet with one of the counselors to discuss their concern and goals and are paired up with a therapist, though they are not required to remain with only one and the facility is open to changing it up if it isn’t a perfect match. Every client has a personalized treatment plan applied to them and the philosophy is that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to mental health and wellness.
Depending on what the client is seeking treatment for there are different avenues one can take. The eating disorder coaching track, known as Safe and Sound, pairs clients up with a Master’s-level therapist who specializes in eating disorders for individual coaching sessions that is skills based and helps discover what a healthy relationship to food looks like. The trauma intensive track is an individualized treatment that uses two therapists’ knowledge and experience to create a one to three day program that combines therapy approaches, like EMDR, DBT and mindfulness, in sessions that run for several hours over those days. The days don’t have to be in consecutive order. The intention of this program is to take other distractions out of the picture for a little while so clients can solely focus on themselves and addressing whatever past traumas they need to work through. Additionally, clients have the option of attending weekly groups that address teen and young adult issues, such as anxiety and self care. Sessions also offer some elements of experiential therapy, mindfulness, body image, coping skills, exercise, art and music therapy, and explore dependence on social media and how that affects mental health.
Additionally, the therapists at Roman and Sokolowski have specialized training in extreme mental health issues, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse and addiction, identity transformation and divorce.
The staff is made up of Master’s-level therapists who are LPC, NCC, and graduate level interns who are under the supervision of the senior staff.
This downtown Nashville, laidback counseling office is operated by experienced professionals who offer their expertise in a non-judgmental and calming environment. Roman and Sokolowski Counseling abides by the principle that there are no rules to success in therapy and that isn’t put upon the clients during treatment. There are several evidence-based approaches offered that are patient and supportive.
