The Basics

With a wide range of facilities throughout the country, Rogers Behavioral Health is a diverse organization with programs for addiction, mood disorders and other dual diagnosis issues. Among these many facilities is Rogers Behavioral Health Tampa Bay, a program open to teens and adolescents struggling with a range of issues. All available treatment plans are outpatient-based and include Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for eating disorders and co-occurring issues.

Treatment and Staff

Before beginning treatment, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their needs and place them in an appropriate program. While detox and stabilization services are not available on-site, those in need can get referrals as necessary. Once stabilized, all clients begin attending either IOP or PHP tracks; the former meet for three hours a day, five days a week while the latter meet six to seven hours a day for four to five days a week. IOP generally lasts six to eight weeks while PHP lasts for four to six.

In both of the above, clients attend both individual, group and family therapy sessions, which use evidence-based treatment practices including CBT, DBT and Behavioral Activation (BA). Dual diagnosis support including medication management is also available. Though the topics of group sessions may vary between the eating disorder and mood disorder programs, each covers topics such as self-esteem, self-harm, emotional regulation, anger management and life skills. Those getting treatment for eating disorders also receive nutritional counseling, exposure therapy and supervised meals. For the age groups mentioned, addiction issues are not typically the focus of a given program and 12-step participation is not required.

The staff at Rogers Behavioral Health Tampa Bay consists of psychologists, psychiatrists, LPCs, LDNs, LMFTs, LCSWs, RNs, LMHCs, nutritionists and additional Master’s and PhD-level clinicians.

Extras

Other services include a wide range of experiential therapies such as art therapy, horticulture, music therapy, recreational groups, yoga, pet therapy, challenge and adventure courses. As mentioned, Rogers Behavioral Health also offers treatment at locations throughout the United States including Wisconsin, Philadelphia, California and Illinois—some of which include residential treatment plans as well (a full list of services is available on their website). Finally, those who complete primary care can also work with staff to develop step-down aftercare regimens.

In Summary

Overall, the outpatient programs offered through Rogers Behavioral Health at Tampa Bay are nothing if not comprehensive. Treatment includes psychiatric oversight, evidence-based treatment, flexible scheduling and plenty of experiential therapy to boot. Adolescents, teens and families are all welcome to attend with support for many different behavioral health issues. While the cost of treatment may vary by each client’s insurance, Rogers Behavioral Health Tampa Bay remains a strong resource for those in the area.
