The Basics
Road to Recovery was originally established in 1977 and now has two facilities in Idaho; Pocatello and Malad. These locations offer Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and standard outpatient treatment for adults. treatment is individualized and solution focused. Treatment methods include CBT and the 12 steps, and clients participate in group and individual therapy that can be co-ed or gender-specific.
Treatment and Staff
The first step in treatment at Road to Recovery is to obtain an assessment to determine which level of the care the client would need. The IOP typically runs three days a week, either mornings or evenings, for two hours or so in a group therapy setting. The standard outpatient, which clients can step down to as they progress through the programs, usually entails one or two group therapy sessions per week for about an hour. Both of these programs include an individual session per week as well.
Programming consists of group sessions that focus on relapse prevention, coping skills and establishing a sober support community, such as AA or Celebrate Recovery. There are also gender specific women’s groups that focus on empowerment, self-esteem and anger management. Groups cover identifying triggers, psychoeducation classes and addressing and repairing relationships that were affected by addiction. Therapeutic methods include DBT, Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT), EMDR and Cognitive Self Change (CSC). The staff at Road to Recovery includes Master’s-level LCSWs, CADCs, LPCs and trained recovery coaches at both locations who are in recovery and offer peer support and assist clients during treatment.
Extras
There is a family program offered at Road to Recovery that includes classes and group therapy with the intent on educating loved ones about the disease of addiction and establishing a support system. Case management services are offered at this facility to aid clients with any legal or medical issues. They are also able to connect clients to a support group in their community. Random drug testing is also available.

The Road to Recovery offers highly structured, supportive and caring programs that are built to enhance each client’s life by arming them with techniques and methods for leading a healthy life outside of drugs and alcohol. The treatment programs provide many different avenues of support and outreach, which will help clients maneuver the initial stages of sobriety without a hitch.
