The Basics
Located in Aurora, Colorado, The Road Called STRATE is an organization founded in 1994 that provides rehabilitative services to disadvantaged, at-risk men and women, as well as juvenile offenders. It offers a wide range of affordable treatment options for substance abuse, mental health and related behavioral health issues.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients go through an initial assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. Those in need of detox are referred to nearby medical facilities. While the specifics of each plan may vary, clients attend both individual and group therapy rooted in evidence-based practices including CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Throughout the program clients are also expected to attend regular 12-step meetings. Duration of treatment varies as it is dependent on the client’s court order or specific treatment plan. In general, the program lasts until the client is considered stable and is capable of securing employment. This can range from 30 days to six months.
While the program does provide support for mental health issues and addiction, its overall approach is more all-encompassing and includes life skills classes, GED preparation, job searching skills, resume writing and computer classes. While it is not equipped to treat clients with severe mental illnesses, it does offer dual diagnosis support for issues like depression and anxiety.
The staff at The Road Called STRATE consists of CACs, pastors, case managers and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
In addition to the above, The Road Called STRATE also helps clients seeking TANF benefits and can provide stepped down treatment as a form of aftercare as necessary. The facility also runs food and clothing banks for the homeless.
