The Basics
Riverside Rentals offer sober living and transitional housing options for adults in Greensboro, Maryland. The organization expects residents to adhere to a number of rules while living at the facilities and begin acclimating themselves to life in recovery. This is not a treatment program, but rather a safe place to live at the beginning stages of sobriety.
Accommodations and Amenities
Clients live in a former historic hotel called The Riverside Inn, which was recently renovated. It can accommodate up to 30 residents. They sleep in semi-private bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms. This facility houses both men and women, though roommates are always the same gender. The rooms are small, but fully furnished and decorated nicely. The building has several large group rooms for meetings, and a restaurant.
Rules and Regulations
This program is only for those who have gone through a treatment program and have been sober for at least 30 days. If there a person relapses, he or she must leave the facility immediately.
There are house managers on site 24 hours a day. They assist clients with anything they need. For those who come to the facility with medications, the staff manages their doses on a daily basis.
Clients need to find a job, and a home 12-step meeting within two weeks of moving in. They are responsible for paying their rent on time and buying their own food. There are random drug screenings on a weekly basis as well. They hold some AA meetings on-site, as well as regular house meetings with other residents.
There is no time limit for clients living at Riverside Rentals, however it expects clients will not stay for long periods of time.
Dr. Gary Spouse owns Riverside Rentals. Two house managers who have been sober for many years serve as facility operators. Dr. Sprouse opened this facility with the intention of giving those in recovery a supportive place to live during the in-between stages of returning home after an intensive inpatient addiction program.
