Riverside Behavioral Health Center Review
Based out of Hampton, Virginia, Riverside Behavioral Health Center is full-service psychiatric hospital that provides an array of primary care services. Within its behavioral health department, it offers acute inpatient, residential treatment and detox programs to adults and adolescents.
Accommodations and Food
Altogether, Riverside Behavioral Health Center has a total of 127 beds—59 are acute inpatient beds for adults, 20 are acute inpatient beds for children and adolescents and 48 are adolescent residential beds. Generally speaking, acute beds have clinical accommodations with one or two beds to a room. The residential unit for adolescents, on the other hand, is designed to resemble home with clients sharing rooms with one to three other residents. Rooms come equipped with home-like decorations, dressers and closet space. Throughout their stay, all clients are served three meals a day cafeteria-style.
Treatment and Staff
Upon intake, all residents go through an initial intake and assessment to help staff members develop an individualized treatment plan. Those who need to detox can do so on-site. The facility’s acute inpatient programs for adults and adolescents are generally short-term and focus on stabilization. During this time, adults and teens may also receive psychiatric and medical services as necessary.
The longer-term program is the adolescent residential track where clients attend both group and individual therapy rooted in evidence-based care, such as CBT and DBT. Dual diagnosis support is readily available from the medical and psychiatric staff as is medication management. Nursing care is available around the clock as well. While 12-step participation is not required, clients who are interested can get referrals to local meetings to attend once primary care is completed. Groups cover life skills, addiction education, relapse prevention, art therapy and recreation. Throughout their stay, residents keep up with school through Riverside Academy, a private residential school located on-site.
The staff at Riverside Behavioral Health Center consists of MDs, RNs, LMFTs, psychiatrists, psychologists and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Family therapy can also be incorporated into residential treatment as well. Standalone psychiatric evaluations and assessments are also available. Because Riverside is a full-service psychiatric hospital, a full range of ancillary medical services are available to those in need.
In Summary
Overall, Riverside Behavioral Health Center provides a thorough medical and psychiatric approach to treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders, with a specific focus on adolescents. Treatment includes evidence-based care and medical supervision as well as some holistic methods to round out the approach. While the cost may vary depending on insurance, Riverside Behavioral Health Care remains a valuable resource for addiction treatment.
