The Basics
River City Rehabilitation Center was founded in 1989 in San Antonio, Texas but now operates an additional location in New Braunfels. The CARF-accredited facilities offer outpatient substance abuse treatment to adults.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment consists of group and individual counseling using a variety of treatment techniques including CBT, DBT, education, sharing and relapse prevention techniques. Groups are generally small, ranging from 10 to 15 clients, and individual sessions are scheduled as needed. The exact length and intensity of treatment is based on the counselor assessment.
Although River City is not 12-step oriented, clients are encouraged to attend outside AA and NA meetings during treatment. River City is equipped to treat clients with a dual diagnosis and offers additional individual sessions with a mental health counselor and has two doctors, five nurses and a pharmacists that provide further support.
The substance abuse treatment is run by two LCDCs.
Extras
Upon request, River City also offers individual family sessions with the client and his or her family members. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using methadone for opiate addiction and Antabuse for alcohol dependency are also available.
