River Centre Clinic Review
Located in the Toledo suburb of Sylvania, Ohio, River Centre Clinic is a CARF-accredited facility offering a wide range of programs to teens and adults struggling with addiction, mental illnesses, eating disorders and related dual diagnosis issues. Although the organization also offers more flexible care through its Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), it also provides more intensive residential treatment options.
Accommodations and Food
All told, the residential program at River Centre has room for between eight to 12 clients in shared rooms. Each bedroom is shared between two to four residents and comes with twin beds, some of which are bunked. Other amenities include carpeted floors, natural light through the windows, nightstands, dressers and shared closet space. While the facility is fairly clinical, it also includes common living areas with TV, therapy rooms, outdoor walking paths and a cafeteria. Throughout their stay, all residents are served three meals a day plus snacks.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, residents go through an intake and assessment process to help the staff develop their care plans. Detox and medical stabilization services are available on-site before clients continue to therapy. Once stabilized, days include individual, group and family therapy with evidence-based practices relying primarily on CBT. Still, participants are also encouraged to take a hand in their own meal planning as well. Groups cover topics such as symptom reduction, relapse prevention, stress management, life skills, social skills and other related topics.
Dual diagnosis support and medication management services are provided as well. While 12-step participation is not always required, clients can get referrals to nearby meetings as necessary.
The staff at River Centre Clinic consists of LCSWs, MDs, psychiatrists, RNs, LPCs, dietitians, LMFTs and additional Master’s and PhD-level clinicians.
Extras
Other services include flexible support groups for families and friends who are close to people who are in treatment. Though the residential program is a co-ed option exclusive to adolescents, River Centre Clinic offers other outpatient programs to adults and adolescents alike. Treatment for early childhood eating issues is available as well. Finally, those who complete a primary care plan can work with staff to develop step-down aftercare plans, also possibly through River Centre Clinic.
