The Basics
Based not far from Toledo in Sylvania, Ohio, River Centre Clinic is a CARF-accredited organization that offers many different programs for teens and adults struggling with substance abuse, mental illness, eating disorders and co-occurring disorders. While more flexible outpatient plans are available as well, the organization also offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for various specific needs.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an intake and assessment process to help staff members determine their needs and develop care plans. As an outpatient-only program, those in need of detox or stabilization services should seek those services elsewhere before attending. Though outpatient plans can be made to fit any schedule, IOP typically meets for four hours a day for three to five days a week, whereas PHP meets for 35 hours a week, five days a week.
Though each plan may differ somewhat, clients can expect to attend both individual, group and family therapy rooted primarily in a CBT-based approach, though additional nutritional counseling and dietary services are also available. Dual diagnosis support and medication management are both available as well, with consulting psychiatric and medical oversight available as well. Groups cover a range of topics including trauma, anxiety, relapse prevention, stress management, social skills and emotional processing. Though 12-step participation is not always required, clients can get referrals to nearby meetings as necessary.
The staff at River Center Clinic consists of MDs, LCSWs, psychiatrists, RNs, LPCs, dietitians, LMFTs and additional Master’s and PhD-level clinicians.
Extras
Support groups are available for friends and family of clients in treatment as well. Both adolescents and adults are welcome to attend these programs, though adolescents also have access to a more intensive residential treatment program for eating disorders and mental illness. A specialized program for early childhood eating issues is also available.
