The Basics
Located adjacent to San Diego in the lovely beachside community of Encinitas, California, Ritual Sober Living provides a 12-step based sober living home for men in early recovery. The house is conveniently located in close proximity to the beach, a shopping mall and US Route 101.
Accommodations and Amenities
The two-story house is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and has a balcony, which provides a panoramic view. The spacious home includes a fireplace with a mantel, a kitchen table with a computer boasting a huge monitor and an entertainment center with a TV. Copies of the Twelve Traditions and the Big Book adorn the mantel. The house includes a meeting room with black couches, a white leather recliner, large windows covered with earth toned panels, a hanging canvas of Buddha and abstract artwork. Ritual Sober Living has a nine-bed capacity. There are three double-occupancy rooms and one triple. Rooms include twin beds, dark wood nightstands, modern-style floor lamps and large closets.
Clients are responsible for their own groceries, and meals can be prepared in a spacious fully equipped kitchen with state of the art appliances. Amenities include a fire pit, barbeque, pool table, hot tub, a 100-inch projection TV and movie room, parking, Wi-Fi, cable and laundry facilities. A house manager lives on the premises, and oversees operations.
Rules and Regulations
At Ritual Sober Living, potential clients are required to have undergone medical detox or provide proof of good health, and must have been clean and sober for a minimum of five days. Requirements for residents include performing household chores, attending regular 12-step meetings, being at house meetings, obtaining and actively maintaining a relationship with a sponsor and working the steps. Clients must attend an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), work full time at an approved place of employment or attend school on a full-time basis.
Extras
Other services besides housing include job placement, resume building and outpatient substance abuse treatment referrals. Special services include yoga and surf classes, gym memberships, and fitness coaching.
