Rising Sun Sober LivingThe Basics

Rising Sun Sober Living provides luxury-level sober living for men and women at an affordable price. Their modest and tasteful homes in Eagle, Idaho provide high-end amenities as well as privacy and reasonable structure to keep clients on their path to recovery. The staff implements the 12-step methodology and spiritual guidance to aid the residents as they transition from treatment to a new sober life.

Accommodations and Amenities

There are five RSSL homes—three for men and two for women. All are charming, inviting and comfortably furnished. There are both shared and private rooms and each client gets their own twin size bed, bedside table and cabinet. Bathrooms are shared.

Each home has fully-equipped kitchens, small dining rooms, living rooms with cable TVs and communal computers. Some houses have common rooms for AA meetings. The price of rent includes all paper and cleaning supplies, local phone, and household and laundry soaps.

All RSSL homes have large front and back yards with plenty of trees and grass for meditation and walks.

Clients must commit to a minimum of 30 days at RSSL and are welcome to stay as long as they like. Residents will find accommodations are close to public transportation and area shopping malls, markets and restaurants.

Rules and Regulations

During their stay at RSSL, clients must agree to a certain number of rules which not only provide structure to prepare them for life after sober living, but to also ensure the privacy and safety of the other clients and staff. Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited on the premises and residents must make a commitment to maintain their sobriety one day at a time.

Attendance at a minimum of three recovery meetings per week is mandatory and clients must have their card signed for verification. House meetings are also mandatory, as is the nightly curfew. Residents must also perform daily chores, keep their personal areas clean and submit to random drug and breathalyzer testing.

RSSL is a spiritual program based on the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and encourages clients to work the 12 steps, get a sponsor and take on commitments at meetings. Other recovery programs are supported; the first priority is a client’s comfort and recovery.

Extras

RSSL has a Next Step Housing program for individuals who no longer require structured sober living and are ready to transition to a more independent and private apartment. In order to qualify for one of the furnished apartments, the client must have been in the sober living program for at least six months, have maintained six months of stable sobriety, be in a 12-step program and have a steady income.

In Summary

RSSL is a good choice for individuals looking for structured and affordable sober living that is not too strict. The homes provide a safe and homey atmosphere, while the required attendance of 12-step meetings and house meetings keep the residents in check with their recovery. The Next Step Housing is a solid option for those ready for a more independent sober environment.
