Ripple Recovery Ranch1Ripple Recovery Ranch Review

Ripple Recovery Ranch  first opened its doors to the public in January, 2014. RRR is a co-ed residential substance abuse treatment facility, that does not offer detox. Its 60 to 90-day program addresses substances like alcohol, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, and prescription drugs. RRR does not employ the 12-step modality—its practices are evidence-based, touching on the holistic as well. Dual-diagnosis and integrated family therapy are also available.

Accommodations and Food

The Ripple Recovery Ranch spans 20 acres in Texas Hill Country, between Austin and San Antonio. Maximum occupancy for the ranch house is 12. Clients typically share a room with one other person but may upgrade to a private room for double the price. The house has six bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well as two living areas. Each bedroom has its own TV and closets. No electronics (other than the TVs) are to be used in the house. All linens are provided and housekeeper come every day to pick up the place, though clients are responsible for doing their own laundry.

RRR provides three meals a day which are prepared by a chef, with vegetarian and gluten-free options available. The homeopathic route makes use of probiotic and amino acid based nutrition. The fully stocked kitchen is also available to raid at any hour of the day or night. The stove stays disconnected while unsupervised by staff. Coffee and tea are provided. Behavioral technicians watch the cameras that monitor the common areas, 24/7.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment is provided in three buildings built across from the pre-existing house. RRR helps arrange detox in collaboration with facilities in the San Antonio area and provides transportation. The intake coordinator visits the clients and arranges for their transportation back to the ranch, after three to five days.

The RRR treatment method creates an individualized treatment plan for each client through a psychiatric evaluation and psychological testing. Clients take part in individual and group therapy utilizing CBT, DBT methods. Other modalities available include neurofeedback, psychodrama, EMDR. RRR clients take part in between 6 to 8 group sessions a day. They are given beepers which notify them of their individual therapy times, or when they have a doctor’s appointment.

Wakeup time is 7:15 am, breakfast is at 8, with the first group being at 9 and a new one every hour on the hour until 10 pm. Each client must take part in a minimum of one hour or individual, one of family therapy and hour with a medical doctor and two hours of neurofeedback per week. Clients have outings off campus every Saturday, to practice coping skills. An intensive family weekend is provided once a month. Sundays clients are allowed visitation or free time. The two living areas in the house may be used to enjoy music, rest and relax. A massage therapist is available on Tuesday evenings.

Medical staff is available on-site 24/7 and the counselor to client ratio is one to four. RRR employs psychologists (who typically see clients weekly) as well as an around the clock nursing staff. There are also four full time counselors, thee out of whom are Master’s-level, as well as a neurofeedback specialist.

Extras

The luxury grounds included a swimming pool, gym, meditative koi pond and even miniature horses. An exercise track and volleyball court are also available, as is a designated area for smoking.

Apart from the aforementioned massages that are offered, some extra recreational and therapeutic activities found at RRR are: yoga, mindfulness meditation, breath workshops, journaling, art and equine therapy.

The 12-month aftercare program offers fulfillment of clients’ recovery plan, alumni meetings, with on-site and even tele-support through an online app.

In Summary

Ripple Recovery Ranch offers a plethora of  recovery services and luxurious grounds. Although it is a relatively new facility, it’s offerings are impressive and the price is incredibly low compared to other rehabs of its caliber. For those seeking an alternative to 12-step treatment, RRR is the ideal recovery resource.
