The Basics
Rio Vista CARE was founded in 1985 in Rio Vista, California, a small city in the San Francisco Bay area. What began as a grassroots effort to help the community is now a large non-profit organization that provides outpatient substance abuse services to adolescents and adults in the Rio Vista, Isleton, Walnut Grove, Birds Landing and Collinsville areas.
Treatment and Staff
Rio Vista offers both individual and group therapy using CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), relapse prevention techniques, addiction education and peer sharing. Groups are held several times throughout the week and individual sessions are scheduled as needed. The exact length and intensity of the program depends on each client’s individual needs.
Rio Vista also offers special groups for adolescents in the afternoon and evening to accommodate academic schedules. These sessions usually focus on adolescent-specific issues such as cyber bullying and anxiety.
While not a 12-step based program, Rio Vista counselors do highly recommend clients attend outside AA and NA meetings and find a sponsor. The program is also equipped to treat clients with a dual diagnosis, offering individual sessions with a mental health counselor.
The staff consists of LCSWs.
Extras
Additional services include crisis intervention services, grief and loss groups, home visitation services and a young women’s alliance mentorship program.
