The Basics
For more than 34 years the Rickman Recovery Center has provided adults and adolescents with substance abuse treatment services that are individualized and holistic. This facility, which was founded by Norman and Sheila Rickman, as a way to offer affordable addiction care in the Southern California community of Glendora. This facility offers Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and standard outpatient treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Rickman Recovery Center offers long-term treatment plans that are person centered and client specific. There is an assessment process for all incoming clients and a treatment plan is developed after that initial meeting. Because of the personalized nature of this facility, there are several different options for their clients. Typically, the facility recommends that clients remain in treatment for up to 18 months in order to fully accommodate their needs physically and mentally. During this time there are frequent check-in periods with the counseling staff that assesses progress, and either continue with the current program or step down to a less intensive treatment plan.
Depending on what the assessment, clients can participate in an IOP up to four times a week for individual therapy exclusively, group sessions or a combination of both. Regardless of the age of the client or the length of their program, treatment includes a variety of therapeutic approaches that can include CBT, DBT and referrals to the local 12-step community. Psychoeducation and relapse prevention are covered during treatment, and dual diagnosis support programs are also offered.
The staff at Rickman Recovery Center offers experienced Master’s-level therapists and LPCs.
Extras
There is a family program offered at the facility that can include both individual and group therapy sessions, and referral to Alanon or other support meetings within their community. There are also aftercare services offered that can include follow up sessions or referrals.

This is a private facility that welcomes its clients in with open arms and designs a treatment plan that is specific to each individual. It aims to encompass the client mentally, physically and spiritually and offers a personalized touch, extended hours, and focused attention that many larger facilities simply can’t offer.
