Staten Island New YorkThe Basics

The Richmond University Medical Center is a part of the Mount Sinai Hospital and Icahn School of Medicine, which offers a wide range of services, sub clinics and programs to the residents of Staten Island, New York. One of these is the Silberstein Clinic, an outpatient chemical dependency facility that provides individualized treatment for adults over the age of 18. Basic outpatient treatment services include both traditional therapy and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to assist those beginning the process of detoxing from opioids.

Treatment and Staff

In addition to substance abuse treatment, the Silberstein Clinic offers support for those struggling with co-occurring disorders. Prior to enrollment, clients are encouraged to schedule an appointment with an intake counselor for a bio-psycho-social assessment. This process takes about an hour and includes individualized treatment planning between the client and the clinical staff. The length of treatment depends on the client’s needs, their insurance and the treatment objectives that are laid out during the intake process.

An assessment with a psychiatrist or an addictionologist is also available for those requiring MAT. Suboxone and Vivitrol are available for prescription for clients requiring outpatient detox. Dual diagnosis support with medication management is also available.

The clinical staff use evidence-based practices in both the group and individual therapy settings. Clients are also encouraged to attend on-site 12-step meetings in tandem with their therapeutic process to develop a peer-support network among the clients and the broader recovery community.

Extras

Couples therapy and family therapy are available and can be scheduled in lieu of individual sessions to help clients and their support networks to understand addiction and grow together in recovery. In addition, clients in need of DWI assessments, parole and probation requirements are assisted through their processes.

In Summary

The Richmond University Medical Center’s Silberstein Clinic provides a flexible treatment program for adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Treatment includes traditional therapy utilizing evidence-based methods, MAT and the 12-step framework, giving clients a well-rounded approach to recovery. Flexible morning, day, evening and weekend hours allow clients to support themselves and their families by meeting work and life obligations while actively participating in the recovery process. Individualized plans help to create a unique recovery experience with support structured in a way that suits their needs.
