The Basics
The Restoration Center, Inc. has been providing outpatient substance abuse treatment to the residents of northeast Kansas for over 10 years. With locations in Manhattan, Junction City and Wichita, Restoration Center’s mission is to provide a safe and sober environment where men can recover from addiction and become contributing members of the community. The Restoration Center also educates the community on the dangers of substance abuse in an effort to support social, mental and spiritual wellness.
Treatment and Staff
After a comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment, clients are placed in either the Level One or Level Two track of the outpatient program. Level One includes up to eight hours of group therapy each week while Level Two requires up to 15. Individual therapy is scheduled as-needed. Most clients complete their track in four to six weeks.
Clients are treated by Licensed Addiction Counselors (LACs) and Licensed Chemical Addiction Counselors (LCAC). Groups have between seven and 12 participants and use a variety of evidence-based therapy techniques including CBT and the Thinking for Change curriculum.
Most clients are required to attend 12-step meetings as part of their treatment plan. The frequency of attendance is decided by the counselor following each client’s assessment. Counselors are also qualified to address co-occurring disorders in therapy, but referrals to community mental health clinics are provided for clients with mental health diagnoses.
Extras
Clients who have successfully completed their outpatient track can attend a weekly support group for aftercare.
In addition to substance abuse treatment, the Restoration Center offers prevention programs including an on-site Alcohol and Drug Information School that also brings curriculum to local schools. Domestic Violence assessments, a 30-week Batterer’s Intervention Program (BIP) and an anger management group for adults are also available as are case-management services for struggling teens and their families.
