Based out of Anchorage, Alaska, Resolution Services is a small counseling organization founded by Vivian Patton, a state-licensed social worker who has been working in mental health since 1994. The facility provides flexible and individualized outpatient treatment services for clients struggling with substance abuse issues, anger management and domestic violence.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all incoming clients go through an initial intake and assessment to help the staff members determine their needs. On-site detox and medical stabilization services are not available, though referrals may be available upon request. Once accepted, participants typically attend a structured outpatient plan in one of several available levels. The less intensive end of care has clients participating in a two-week program with drug and alcohol education classes. Beyond that, participants can do the classes along with four follow-up therapy sessions. On the more intensive end, clients do all the above along with more frequent therapy sessions throughout.
Patton’s clients can expect to attend both individual and group therapy with evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT. All care plans come from a solution-focused, client-centered perspective, which is non-confrontational. Program participants also attend plenty of educational and informational groups covering substance abuse and health, life skills, anger management, coping skills, emotional processing, relapse prevention and other related topics. As court-ordered clients are also welcome to attend, 12-step participation may also be required in some cases. Those seeking more extensive dual diagnosis support may need to find additional help elsewhere.
The staff at the Resolution Services Office of Vivian Patton consists of Patton herself as well as case managers, support staff and additional Master’s-level counselors.
The facility offers Department of Transportation (DOT) classes for DUI/DWI clients. More specifically, a special 12-week Access to Recovery (ATR) orientation program open to Alaska Native and Native American clients with state-funding available. Those who complete a program can also work with case managers to develop stepped down aftercare and discharge plans.
Overall, the Resolution Services Office of Vivian Patton provides a range of flexible outpatient programs working with both court-ordered and self-referred clients. All programs include both educational classes and counseling services for substance abuse, anger management and domestic violence-related issues for men and women alike. Resolution Services Office of Vivian Patton is a resource worth considering for those in the area.
