The Basics
Northwest Ohio’s Rescue Mental Health and Addiction Services is an emergency treatment option for children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Adult treatment includes inpatient stabilization, individual and group therapy, medication management, dual diagnosis specific programming and reintegration services.
Accommodations and Food
The large brick multi-level building houses both the adolescents and adults, with the adult wing offering 12 beds. The rooms are double occupancy and there are shared bathrooms throughout the facility in the halls. The facility is very simply furnished, and there is a common room where clients can watch TV in between therapy sessions. All meals are provided on site.
Treatment and Staff
The stay at Rescue is usually a short one, with the average stay being a couple of weeks. Clients can be referred to the program or picked up by staff members to be admitted. The services provided at Rescue are available around the clock, seven days a week. In the adult stabilization unit there are nurses on staff who can offer medication and several group sessions on a weekly basis. Every client has an individualized treatment plan, receives psychiatric evaluations and a treatment program that consists of a plan for discharge and aftercare services. The adult stabilization program is designed to be an alternative to a hospital stay, though there are instances where the client needs an extra measure of medical attention, and Rescue coordinates the transfer. Additionally Rescue coordinates with other agencies to make sure the client receives the proper care after stabilization. This includes referrals to substance abuse programs and resources within the community.
In addition to in house services, Rescue also province outreach assessments that can take place in the client’s home, a shelter or a correctional facility. This can include mental health assistance and transportation.
Rescue employs a big staff of therapists and techs. This includes psychiatric nurses, LCSWs, MHTs, LPCs, CADCs and case managers.
Extras
Rescue provides families and clients with helpful resources for outside assistance and offers guidance to be able to spot when an individual is showing signs of a mental health crisis.
