Renown Health Review
Renown Health is a Reno, Nevada based hospital that provides mental health care and addiction services on an outpatient basis. Programming options include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults. The specialized services include counseling, medication management, and individualized care. Seasoned mental health and addiction experts facilitate care, either in in the office or via telehealth services.
Treatment and Staff
The adult outpatient programming takes place at the Renown Regional Medical Center at the Stacie Mathewson Behavioral Health and Addiction Institute. Placement in the PHP or IOP is dependent on the assessment. From the intake a customized treatment plan is drawn up, which includes individual and group therapy, medication and specialized care to address different mental illnesses. This includes depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and more.
The PHP is a full day program. Clients arrive at the facility in the morning for a series of group sessions and activities, including a midday meal and snacks. This is a common step-down program from an inpatient track, though many clients go to this program as a first step in treatment.
The IOP also consists of many of the same elements of the PHP with about nine hours of treatment per week. The groups address issues like grief and loss, stresses in life, work or relationships, anger management and stress management, chronic disease and relapse prevention. Clients with an existing dual diagnosis undergo a comprehensive assessment with a staff psychiatrist and receive a customized medication management plan. The outpatient treatment at Renown Health is not based on the principles of the 12 steps, though Renown encourages clients to find a support community in addition to the provided treatment strategies at the facility.
The staff boasts medical professionals, such as psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses. There are also a wide variety of therapists who specialize in addiction. These therapists commonly use evidence-based approaches, like CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Clients’ family members have access to both couples and family counseling.

Renown has a large network of care providers who are able to serve individuals dealing with mental illness and addiction issues. The approaches are individualized and men and women are able to receive one on one care and community support. Above all, the aim is for men and women to emerge from these outpatient programs feeling confident and equipped with plenty of life skills.
