Accommodations and Food
The 80,000 square foot hospital has 124 beds in total, with the lions share of the bed count belonging to adult clientele. The facility is spacious and comfortable, providing home-like amenities. The bedrooms are double occupancy with en suite bathrooms. There is a fitness center, gymnasium and cafe style dining room on campus amongst the medical and therapy rooms.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered with a few options per meal times. There is a staff dietitian who designs the menus, which are always balanced and nutritious. There are also snacks set out during the day.
Treatment and Staff
If detox is the first step in treatment clients go through a medically monitored process that lasts between a few days to a week. Following detox clients attend group therapy and scheduled activities throughout the day. The personalized treatment plans are strength based and utilize a number of holistic modalities during group and individual therapy.
Inpatient care incorporates addiction education classes, stress management and coping skills. This program is not entirely built on the 12-step principles, through does include some elements of it. CBT, DBT and trauma-informed care protocols are regularly used.
Once the client is ready to step down in treatment, there is a chemical dependency Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) on site. This is typically a four week track that includes about nine hours of treatment per week. During the IOP clients address triggers, reducing shame, evaluating emotions around their addiction, and relapse prevention, and cravings.
Medication management is included in both levels of treatment. The staff psychiatrist has an initial assessment with each person and monitors their progress with medication throughout their treatment experience.
Staff of the substance abuse track at Reno Behavioral Healthcare consists of Master’s-level therapists who are LADCs, LCSWs, case managers and psychiatrists.
