Reno Behavioral Healthcare is a recently established mental health treatment facility in northwest Nevada. It offers holistic health care approaches for adolescents and adults. Programming consists of detox, inpatient and outpatient services that focus on mental health issues, addiction and eating disorders. The facility was built in 2018 and is the first hospital of its kind in 35 years in the area.
Accommodations and Food
The campus contains the 80,000 square foot facility with a total of 124 beds. The client groups are separated throughout the hospital. Clients sleep in semi-private bedrooms and share several common spaces throughout the facility. This includes a full gymnasium, several courtyards, medical and clinical offices, and an industrial kitchen.
Three meals a day are served cafe style in the community cafeteria. Professional chefs prepare the food, which is always fresh and nutritionally sound.
Treatment and Staff
The programming at Reno Behavioral Healthcare offers services for a variety of mental health issues and ages. Every client has an initial phone assessment that determines their next step.
Depending on the level of care needed, clients are placed accordingly. There is no set amount of time that clients are expected to be in the program. Treatment protocols are evidence-based and include CBT, DBT, trauma-informed modalities, and expressive approaches. Participants can also expect recreational therapy, socialization, medication management, and coping skills.
Clients attend daily group sessions and have individual therapy according to their needs. There are inpatient and outpatient treatment levels for both adolescents and adults. There are also several levels of outpatient treatment. This includes an adult general psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), an adolescent PHP, and step-down addiction Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adults.
There is a large clinical and medical staff on hand around the clock. This includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nursing staff, dietitians, internists, case managers and LCSWs, activity therapists and ancillary nurses.
