Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital Review

The inpatient eating disorder program at Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is amongst several treatment programs for adults at this facility. Clients can expect comprehensive care that addresses myriad disordered eating issues. Experienced professionals oversee programming and foster a safe, supportive environment that aims to render client-centered, solution-focused results.

Accommodations and Food

The eating disorder treatment takes place within the 80,000 square foot hospital, which offers brand new, state of the art accommodations. There are 101 beds in total that account for adults undergoing various treatment programs. The bedrooms are all double occupancy, spacious, and include en suite bathrooms.

The campus contains a large gymnasium where residents can participate in yoga and other group sports. The sprawling grounds surrounding the facility are well maintained with walking paths and strategically placed benches.

The cafeteria serves three meals a day as well as snacks. The food is healthy, and there are several options per meal time.

Treatment and Staff

Reno Behavioral Health Hospital conducts a psychiatric evaluation at the onset of treatment. This is used as a way to identify whether or not the client also has an existing substance abuse disorder or a dual diagnosis. In addition to this assessment, there is a thorough medical intake and review of current medications.

This program addresses common eating disorders in adults who are 18 and older. This includes anorexia, bulimia, ARFID, body dysmorphia, binge eating and co-occurring disorders. The eating disorder program is built on a series of patient core concepts and evidence-based protocols. These concepts include maintaining safety and structure through medication adjustments and diagnostic testing, developing self regulation skills, learning to identify triggers, and creating a wellness plan that consists of emergency treatment planning and warning signs.

The treatment model known as Intuitive Eating is the primary approach within these programs. Clinicians combine that with CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and DBT. Throughout their treatment clients meet with a dietitian who monitors their daily caloric intake and nutritional status on a day to day basis.

On a daily basis clients attend group therapy sessions and unit activities. Each client has a customized treatment that is assessed and altered regularly. There are also weekly individual sessions and transition planning meetings with a primary therapist and client.

The staff of the eating disorder program at Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital includes internists, psychiatric nurses, LPCs, psychiatrists, and mental health techs.

Extras

Aftercare and family therapy are available.

In Summary

It’s worth mentioning, the eating disorder program is a new addition to the already existing programs at Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital. Above all, clients learn how to manage their triggers and handle their eating disorder from caring and experienced staff. Throughout the program participants can expect to meet with the multidisciplinary team and have input into their wellness plans.
