Reno Behavioral Healthcare Adolescent Outpatient Review
Reno Behavioral Healthcare is a mental health treatment facility located in northwest Nevada. Programming is for adolescents and adults with a variety of treatment options. Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 may be placed in an intensive inpatient track, or the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The adolescent tracks are full time and include group and individual therapy, education and recreation. These programs emphasize the importance of healing and empowerment within a therapeutic community.
Treatment and Staff
Clients have a thorough assessment process at the beginning of treatment to determine the level of care that’s needed. They can start with the outpatient track as the beginning of their treatment journey, or step down from the inpatient program.
The PHP is an all day program that runs Monday to Friday for six hours per day. The days consist of group therapy and age appropriate activities and education. There is an on-site teacher on a daily basis so clients can stay on top of their studies.
Group topics include triggers, communication, self esteem, goal setting, setting boundaries, and relapse prevention. Expressive therapies and regular recreation are incorporated into daily schedules. On average, clients remain in the PHP for two to four weeks, however the program is individualized and length of treatment can vary.
Additional parts of the adolescent outpatient program include medication management, CBT, trauma-informed therapies, and illness recovery management. The outpatient tracks utilize Solution Focused Therapy approaches with an emphasis on setting achievable goals for the future.
The adolescent outpatient program is overseen by Master’s-level therapists, LCSWs, psychiatrists and psychiatric nursing staff.
Family therapy and support is provided throughout treatment.
Lunch is included during the PHP.
Aftercare referrals are provided for clients and their families at the end of the program. This includes a detailed safety plan and information regarding their condition. There are also follow up sessions scheduled along with community support group information for both the clients and their families, and a detailed crisis plan.
The adolescent outpatient program at Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is the only one of its kind in the area. The PHP is a highly structured curriculum that incorporates daily living skills with education, along with traditional and holistic treatment approaches. Treatment takes place in a positive environment and offers young clients the proper tools to maintain their recovery.
