The Basics
Renewed Hope Community Services has been providing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to opioid addicts since the 1980s. Located in the Park Manor section of Chicago, Illinois, the facility is located a few blocks from the Oak Woods Cemetery.
Renewed Hope provides MAT using methadone, and clients must attend group and individual therapy while they’re receiving doses. Renewed Hope also treats non-opioid substance abusers at the standard outpatient level of care.
Treatment and Staff
After their assessment, clients receive a treatment plan that includes group therapy once or twice a week and individual therapy at least once a month. MAT clients must attend group and individual therapy provided they are receiving medication; other addicts have progress-based treatment plans in which the duration of treatment is decided based on their needs and recovery goals.
Therapy groups use Motivational Interviewing (MI) and CBT. Groups are led by CDACs and are scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from the early morning to the early afternoon. Clients are encouraged to attend 12-step or other peer support meetings such as Celebrate Recovery while in treatment.
Renewed Hope’s treatment team addresses co-occurring disorders in group and individual therapy, but clients requiring more intensive dual diagnosis support are referred to nearby mental health clinics.
Extras
Renewed Hope offers some treatment services in Spanish. It also has relationships with a variety of supportive agencies, medical centers and training programs, providing clients with referrals upon request.
