The Basics
The Renaissance Center for Counseling of Arlington Heights, Illinois, offers behavioral health and dual diagnosis treatment through outpatient programs. Modalities are solution-focused, utilizing evidence-based approaches in addition to holistic methods. These programs work within the structure of individual and group counseling, psychoeducational lectures and workshops that focus on the client’s personal needs.
Treatment and Staff
Renaissance Center for Counseling offers intervention, education and long-term prevention techniques. During intake evaluations, counselors inquire about substance abuse, family, social and economic history. After which, an individualized treatment plan is developed. While this program is designed for adults, Renaissance has tracks specifically geared towards teens and their parents.
All programs are made up of individual and group therapy, however, the frequency and intensity of both depend on the client’s personal program. Typically client attend one or two groups and one individual session a week. There are also three-hour workshops offered regularly that incorporate relapse prevention plans, which include education about the cycle of addiction, coping skills and ways to identify triggers. This workshop is often suggested for clients who enroll in treatment as a result of a DUI conviction.
Treatment employs a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and trauma-informed care; along with holistic options like art therapy, music therapy, play therapy or recreational therapy. These approaches can be applied in either a group or individual setting. Additionally, therapists employ stress and anger management techniques. While the 12 steps are not incorporated into treatment, clients are welcome to attend AA/NA meetings in the community to supplement their recovery.
The experienced staff at this facility are Master’s-level clinicians with credentials that include LCPC and CADC.
