Rena B Recovery Center is one of several programs under the Mary Lind Recovery Centers umbrella, a California-based, non-profit organization founded in 1949. Located in Los Angeles, Rena B offers long-term residential treatment for men and women, based primarily on the 12 steps.
Accommodations and Food
Rena B Recovery Center is a several-story building equipped with 100 beds and clients sleep two to five to a room, with men and women kept in separate wings. Laundry is available on-site as well as basic work-out equipment. Residents are provided three square meals a day, served cafeteria-style, and coffee is included as part of the meal plan.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment works within the structure of group and individual therapy as well as daily on-site AA/NA/CA/CMA meetings. After 60 days, clients are permitted to attend off-site meetings. With a focus on sober life and independent living, the program also offers educational classes on life skills, anger management and family reunification. Treatment methods consist primarily of traditional talk therapy and an introduction to the 12 steps. After 90 days, groups become more geared towards job preparedness and other skills necessary to reintegrate into society. If approved by the staff, clients may also request weekend and day passes to visit friends and family after they have completed three months of treatment.
Staff consists of CADCs and counselors certified through the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources (CAARR), though some staff may still be working towards full certification. Because the facility lacks a medical component, they are not equipped to accommodate clients with more than mild dual diagnosis.
Extras
Mary Lind Recovery Centers also provides computer literacy services to all clients at its Royal Palms location. Other services include adult education and vocational guidance.
