Reliance Treatment Centers Review
Located in Palm Beach, Florida, Reliance Treatment Centers opened in 2015 to provide specialized addiction treatment for men and women struggling with trauma and co-occurring disorders. Reliance offers a “Florida-style” continuum of care that includes structured sober living in conjunction with a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in the place of a traditional residential treatment. Reliance also provides an individualized Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and basic outpatient care, as well as substance abuse education and intervention services.
Accommodations and Food
The three Reliance Treatment residential facilities are located in the same upscale Singer Island neighborhood, just steps from the beach. The gender-specific homes for PHP clients are Cabana for men and Bravado for women. Each offers accommodations for six residents in double-occupancy rooms. The newly-remodeled houses both have brand new state-of-the-art kitchens, flat screen TVs, comfortable furnishings, tempur-pedic and pillow top bedding.
The residences have outdoor spacious living environments conducive to group therapy and recreational activities. The men’s home has a volleyball pit and the women’s home has a pool and Jacuzzi. On-site laundry facilities are available at no cost to the client. Clients create meal plans, shopping lists and cook with roommates to learn life skills and create a family atmosphere.
The sober living facility is for clients who are in the IOP or outpatient. The La Doral apartment building is a newly remodeled 10-unit facility. There are eight shared one-bedroom units and two apartments that have two bedrooms and accommodate four clients each. All the units have fully equipped kitchens that are stocked with basic groceries. The residents in sober living are expected to shop for and prepare their own meals.
Treatment and Staff
Each new client at Reliance Treatment Center receives an individualized treatment plan. PHP is the most intensive level of care, with therapy six hours a day, five days a week. Programming consists of multiple group sessions a day, at least one individual session a week and AA/NA meetings. Clients have the option to live at home during treatment or to reside in one of the Reliance structured living homes. Peer support meetings are also offered on-site in the evenings for clients in structured living. There are groups that are specifically dedicated to the issues that face young adults, professionals and baby boomers. Individual sessions provide trauma-informed care, medication management and support for those with co-occurring disorders.
After a period of about 30 days, clients can transition to the IOP, which meets three to five times a week for group therapy. The required number of hours is no less than nine and no more than 19 hours per week. The IOP usually lasts six weeks, though the total length in the program can vary. The outpatient program serves as a step-down from structured living and intensive treatment. Typically, outpatient clients attend group once a week and one individual session a month. Therapy methods in all programs include psychoeducation, CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and holistic approaches like meditation, nutritional counseling and massage therapy.
The staff is made up an MD and Master’s-level therapists whose credentials include LPC, CADC and LCSW.
Extras
Transportation is available for residents to go to off-site 12-step meetings, supervised grocery shopping trips and to attend weekend fellowship activities.
Reliance also offers a free family program for loved ones over 18 that includes group therapy and classes.
