Accommodations and Food
The housing units for the men and women are separated by an open air courtyard and feature a rooftop garden on the men’s side and a sun balcony on the women’s. The men share dorm-style bedrooms that accommodates up to 10 clients per room, and the women’s side has two shared bedrooms—one that fits four and the other two. If detox is necessary, the clients are given a private room for the first week, then are moved to the residential side.
Upon arrival, clients are each given a comfortable memory foam pillow and after the first two weeks of treatment, with the counselor’s approval, are issued tablets with Netflix and Wifi capability. The campus also contains medical offices, group therapy rooms, staff offices and a recreational area where yoga takes place. Daily exercise is offered but not required.
The facility offers four meals a day that are prepared by an on-site chef. When they arrive for treatment, clients are able to choose their meals from an assorted menu.
Treatment and Staff
The initial stages of treatment begin with the client having a psychological and medical assessment so that an individualized treatment plan can be created. Residents can stay for 30, 60 or 90 days, depending on their unique circumstances.
Treatment is based on the 12 steps but offers both AA and SMART Recovery meetings three times a week on-site. There are group sessions three times a week and one two-hour individual session weekly. There are also weekly self improvement and leadership classes that include relapse prevention and coping skills. Therapeutic approaches included CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Holistic treatment is offered once a week; either massage, acupuncture or hot and cold cupping. Additionally, the staff works to assist clients in their treatment by providing spiritual guidance, if they request it. There are Sunday church services and once a week the facility hosts volunteers from three other religions.
The multidisciplinary staff includes physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists and addiction specialists.
Extras
There is a therapy dog on site. All laundry services are provided.
Every Thursday the clients enjoy a group movie night and after three weeks or so, are able to experience guided tours of many Mexico City attractions including museums, the Aztec Pyramids and the arts district. There is also ample free time for clients to relax in between treatment.
Since most clients are traveling from the US to attend treatment here, pricing is calculated for US currency. Assistance with passports, travel itineraries and exploring insurance options is also available.
